A Handbook to Some of the Best Things that This City Has to Offer
So you have decided to take a trip to Las Vegas, and this time you have decided to bring the kids along? Many families are facing planning such Las Vegas vacations with their kids as well. It is important to get information regarding everything from the best hotel in which to stay, as well as things to do for the kids while in town.
For most visitors to Las Vegas, especially those making a first time trip, it is important to be close to The Strip. There are plenty of kid-friendly hotels from which to choose. On the north end of the strip, there is Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, and The Flamingo. Mandalay Bay features The Shark Reef Aquarium and their fabulous beach, as well as Lazy River. Excalibur, which has a medieval theme, is complete with a place for the kiddos to do what we tell them not to do, eat with their hands. The Flamingo Hotel has one of the nicest pools available, to be one of the older properties on The Strip. On the south end of The Strip, there is Circus Circus. Mind you that this property is not the gem of The Strip any longer. However, it does offer very economical pricing. There are tons of hotels to choose from Off Strip. One of the best is The Orleans. This property offers movie theaters and a bowling alley, just to name a few of the wonderful ideas. The Orleans also offers Kids Tyme, which is their supervised play area for the kids (aka babysitting service). As a whole Downtown Vegas does not have hotels geared towards children. However, all of them allow children to stay. The best of them would be The Golden Nugget, for its beautiful swimming pool. Now on to find things for the kids to do.
Attractions for Kids
There are many attractions that kids will love in Las Vegas. If a day away from the noises of the slot machines is what you are looking for, travel a short ways down Tropicana Avenue to Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory and take a tour to see how the company makes the candy. This option is self-paced, quite an interesting thing to do, and best of all FREE. Favorites on The Strip are M & M World and Gameworks, which is located at Showplace Mall. There is also the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand, which offers the kids an opportunity to learn more about one of the largest animals in the cat family. If you move further down the strip, there is Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. This is something that young or old should not miss. It is located within the Venetian Hotel. If you are looking for an amusement park that is available year round, then you have to hit The Adventuredome at Circus Circus. For those thrill-seeking teens, there are the rides that rise over 1,100 feet above The Strip at The Stratosphere Hotel. Do not forget the short trek to Hoover Dam. There are exhibits and interactive displays for the kids to learn about the history and construction of one of the most well built structures in the country.
Places to Eat
Once you have enjoyed the sights, it is time to feed the children. Some of the sports that are great for the smaller kids are Rainforest Café at the MGM Grand and The Elephant Bar. For the teens there is ESPN Zone at New York New York Hotel and The Hard Rock Café.
For those that want the kids to have the full Vegas experience, there are plenty of opportunities for them to take in a show. Some of those shows are Blue Man Group, Lance Burton, as well as the Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere, and Ka. One of the other great shows to see if “V” the Ultimate Variety Show at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. This show offers a little of everything for everyone.
